Privacy Policy

Your privacy isn't a feature. It's a fundamental right.

Last updated: January 2, 2026

Our Commitment

Kindly is built on a simple principle: your feelings, thoughts, and habits belong to you. Not to us. Not to advertisers. Not to anyone else.

This privacy policy explains how Kindly handles your information. Spoiler: we don't. Everything stays on your device.

Information We Don't Collect

Kindly is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information to our servers.

We don't collect:

  • Your habits or tasks
  • Your energy check-ins or emotional states
  • Your reflections or journal entries
  • Your usage patterns or app interactions
  • Your location data
  • Your contact information (unless you email us)
  • Any analytics or tracking data
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs

There are no analytics tools, no tracking pixels, no crash reporters, and no third-party SDKs that phone home. Kindly works completely offline and never makes network requests with your data.

On-Device Storage

All of your data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using SwiftData, Apple's secure data storage framework.

Your data is protected by your device's security features, including:

  • Device encryption (all modern iOS devices encrypt data at rest)
  • Your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID
  • iOS security sandbox (apps can't access each other's data)

When you delete the app, all your data is permanently deleted from your device. We have no way to recover it because we never had access to it.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

Kindly offers optional iCloud sync to keep your data synchronized across your Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac).

Important: When you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, not on our servers. We cannot access, view, or retrieve your iCloud data.

How iCloud Sync Works:

  • Your data is encrypted before it leaves your device
  • Data is stored in your iCloud account (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
  • Only you can access your data using your Apple ID
  • We never have access to your iCloud data
  • You can disable sync at any time in the app settings

Your iCloud data is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. We recommend reading it to understand how Apple handles your iCloud data.

Apple Intelligence

Kindly uses Apple Intelligence (available on compatible devices with iOS 18.1 or later) to provide personalized insights and suggestions.

Privacy-preserving AI: Apple Intelligence processes your data entirely on your device. Your personal information is never sent to Apple's servers or our servers for AI processing.

What This Means:

  • AI-powered suggestions are generated on-device
  • Your habit patterns and reflections stay private
  • No data is uploaded to cloud AI services
  • Apple Intelligence can be disabled in iOS Settings

No Account Required

Kindly does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the app.

There are no usernames, passwords, email addresses, or profile information. You can start using Kindly immediately after installing it.

No Tracking or Analytics

We do not use any analytics, tracking, or telemetry tools in Kindly. We don't track:

  • Which features you use
  • How often you open the app
  • What habits you create
  • Your completion rates
  • Crashes or errors (we recommend using TestFlight feedback instead)

We genuinely don't know how you use Kindly, and that's intentional. Your privacy matters more than our metrics.

Email Communications

If you sign up for our launch notification waitlist on our website (kindlyhabits.app), we collect only your email address to send you updates about the app.

What we do with your email:

  • Send you a notification when Kindly launches
  • Occasionally share important updates about the app
  • You can unsubscribe at any time

What we don't do:

  • Sell or share your email with third parties
  • Send promotional emails or spam
  • Link your email to your app usage (we can't - they're separate systems)

Website email signups are managed through Resend, a privacy-focused email service. You can request deletion of your email at any time by contacting us.

Support Requests

If you contact us for support via email, we will collect:

  • Your email address (to respond to you)
  • Any information you choose to share in your message

We use this information only to provide support and will delete it upon request. We never share support emails with third parties.

Third-Party Services

Kindly uses minimal third-party services:

Apple Services

We use Apple's frameworks (SwiftData, CloudKit, Apple Intelligence) which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

App Store

When you download Kindly from the App Store, Apple collects information as described in their Privacy Policy. We do not receive any of this information.

We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs into the Kindly app.

Children's Privacy

Kindly does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is designed for users aged 17 and older.

Because we don't collect any data at all, we have no way to know the age of our users, and we have no data to delete if a child uses the app.

Data Retention

Since all your data is stored on your device, you control how long it's retained:

  • Data remains on your device until you delete the app
  • iCloud data remains until you disable sync or delete your iCloud account
  • We have no servers with your data to delete

Email addresses collected through our website are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

Your Rights

Because we don't collect your data, most privacy rights don't apply in the traditional sense:

Right to Access

All your data is already accessible to you in the app. We have no additional data to provide.

Right to Deletion

Delete the app to remove all data. For website email signups, contact us to delete your email.

Right to Portability

Export your data from the app's settings at any time.

Right to Opt-Out

There's nothing to opt out of - we don't track you in the first place.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. When we do:

  • We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top
  • We'll post the new policy on this page
  • For material changes, we'll notify users through the app or email (if you're on our mailing list)

Your continued use of Kindly after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
