Getting Started

Welcome to Kindly

Kindly is a gentle habit app designed for days when you don't have much energy. There are no streaks, no pressure, just small actions you can take.

Remember:

You showed up. That's enough. Kindly meets you where you are, not where you "should" be.

First Time Setup

    Choose what lights you up

    Select activities that bring you joy. These will help Kindly suggest relevant habits for you.

  2. 2

    Check in with your energy

    Tell Kindly how you're feeling today. Your suggestions will adapt based on your energy level.

  3. 3

    Create or choose habits

    Add habits from suggestions or create your own. Keep them small and manageable.

  4. 4

    Show up at your own pace

    Complete what feels manageable. There's no pressure, and rest is always a valid choice.

Features

Energy Check-ins

Start each day by checking in with how you're feeling. Kindly recognizes four energy levels:

  • Exhausted: Bare minimum suggestions only
  • Low: Gentle, small-step habits
  • Okay-ish: Normal habit versions
  • Plenty: Full habit suggestions

Adaptive Habits

Each habit has multiple versions based on your energy:

Example: Drink Water

  • • Exhausted: "One sip"
  • • Low energy: "Half a glass"
  • • Normal: "Full glass"
  • • High energy: "Stay hydrated throughout the day"

One Thing Mode

On ultra-low energy days, enable "One Thing Only" mode to see just one gentle suggestion. Sometimes, one thing is all you need.

Weekly Reflections

At the end of each week, review your progress with compassion. Kindly shows:

  • What you accomplished (not what you missed)
  • Patterns in your energy and mood
  • Gentle insights about what helped you
  • Encouraging reflections

Quiet Mode

When even normal visuals feel like too much, enable Quiet Mode:

  • Reduced animations and colors
  • Simpler interface with fewer choices
  • Extra reassuring language
  • One gentle option at a time

Apple Intelligence

On compatible devices, Kindly uses Apple Intelligence to:

  • Provide personalized habit suggestions
  • Notice gentle patterns in your routine
  • Generate compassionate reflections

Privacy: All processing happens on your device. Your data never leaves your iPhone/iPad.

Data & Sync

iCloud Sync

Keep your habits synchronized across all your Apple devices:

  1. 1.Go to Settings in the app
  2. 2.Tap iCloud Sync
  3. 3.Enable sync and sign in with your Apple ID
  4. 4.Your data will sync automatically across devices

Note: iCloud sync is optional. Your data works perfectly fine on a single device.

Export Your Data

Export your habits, check-ins, and reflections:

  1. 1.Go to Settings → Data & Privacy
  2. 2.Tap Export Data
  3. 3.Choose format (JSON or CSV)
  4. 4.Save or share your export file

Troubleshooting

Sync not working?

Try these steps:

  1. 1. Check that you're signed in to iCloud on all devices
  2. 2. Make sure iCloud Drive is enabled in iOS Settings
  3. 3. Verify you have internet connection
  4. 4. Force quit and reopen Kindly
  5. 5. Toggle sync off and back on in Settings

Notifications not appearing?

Check notification permissions:

  1. 1. Go to iOS Settings → Notifications → Kindly
  2. 2. Enable "Allow Notifications"
  3. 3. Choose your preferred notification style
  4. 4. In Kindly, go to Settings → Notifications
  5. 5. Configure when you want gentle reminders

App running slowly?

Performance tips:

  1. 1. Make sure you're running the latest iOS version
  2. 2. Update Kindly to the latest version from the App Store
  3. 3. Restart your device
  4. 4. If issues persist, try disabling Quiet Mode animations

Lost data after update?

Your data should be safe:

  1. 1. Force quit and reopen the app
  2. 2. If using iCloud, make sure sync is enabled
  3. 3. Check if you're signed in to the correct iCloud account
  4. 4. Wait a few minutes for sync to complete
  5. 5. If data is still missing, contact support immediately

Tips & Best Practices

Start small

Your first habits should be almost embarrassingly easy. "Drink one sip of water" is better than "drink 8 glasses."

Check in honestly

There's no penalty for low energy days. The more honest you are about how you feel, the better Kindly can support you.

Rest is valid

Choosing to rest is a valid completion. You don't always need to "do" something to show up for yourself.

Adjust as needed

Your needs change. Edit habits, adjust energy levels throughout the day, and don't be afraid to start over.

  • • iPad (5th generation) or newer
  • • 50 MB available storage

Recommended

  • • iOS 18.1 or later (for Apple Intelligence)
  • • iPhone 12 or newer
  • • iCloud account (for sync)
  • • Stable internet (for initial setup)
